Contact Us

Hello and welcome to

Hello, my name is Michelle and camping has been one of my passions for a few years now.  Normally I camp with my partner and we can suit ourselves as to where we go and for how long.  More recently however my own family have taken up camping with their children and often we will all go together.

I just love sleeping outdoors and mostly sleep better when camping, must be the air!  For us there is nothing better than being sat around a campfire, sharing stories with some refreshments on the go.

We have wild camped, camped in peoples back yards, visited camping grounds and more commercial parks.  Every trip is different and unique and that is the way we like it.  Whether it is as a couple, group, family with a light set up or everything but the kitchen sink, we just enjoy getting away and we hope this site will help and inspire you to do the same.

I have always loved nature but more recently have really been looking into how nature can help nurture and heal us.  This includes helping us to de-stress, improve our mental and emotional states as well as allow us to connect to our more creative and fun sides.  So as well as camping related articles you will be seeing many health/nature related articles too.

Through camping, we also discover and try out different activities so I’m sure these will be shared through the site too.  All in all, we hope to share our travels and ongoing as well as information we know and glean from other like-minded people.

Our Aim is to Helping Others

We know that starting out camping can sometimes be a daunting thing with the huge choice of tents, gear, campsites and so on. We hope by sharing stories and sharing reviews that we can help other campers get the most out of their gear and their time away. We hope my reviews can give guidance for others and give a place for others to share their thoughts and stories.

By sharing what we learn about how nature can make a positive difference to all our lives we hope by sharing this with you, the reader to give you more of a reason to get out and enjoy nature in many different ways.

We want to build a community where no question is too silly and we all help each other out.  We are by no means experts and are always willing to learn ourselves and pass that information on.

Keep in Touch Through Social Media

Our aim is to help the camping community get out there more and get the most out of their camping trips. Camp Me Happy is on social media so feel free to join us.

  1. Hi, ive recently bought a vango casa 7 man tent
and as daft as this sounds, could you please tell me if its a a double skin tent or not.

    • Hi Ste,

The bedrooms are separate and will attach to the inside of the tent via a toggle system, so tent is classed as double skin. This just means that the bedroom pods are made from a breathable fabric with waterproof flooring while the main tent or flysheet is waterproof so living area is just single skin. Double skins are more spoken about with smaller and more technical tents.

      Hope this helps,

    • Hi Sheila,
most tents are now fire retardant, although this is not to be confused with fireproof. All tent material will burn or melt if it catches fire and it will do quickly. Tents are commonly made from fire retardant material or impregnated with a fire retardant spray or wash.
I hope this helps and thank you for your question. I may do a post on this in the near future to clarify things for people. But if you are buying a tent from a reputable manufacturer there should be clear guidance on fire retardancy on labels or packaging.

  2. Could you let me have a phone number for Loch Doon Castle. I know it is currently closed to the public, but I assume that someone is maintaining it and that there is a phone there. Thank you

    • Hi Neville,

Thanks for contacting us, I’m afraid the castle does not have a phone or a contact number, and I am unsure if whoever may be “manning” the castle would be able to take the call (As it is only castle ruins). If you would maybe like a number for the campsite nearby or the roundhouse up the road at Loch Doon I’d be happy to be of assistance.
