Hi Gear Kalahari Tents Review– 3 Styles, Your Choice

Welcome

Kalahari tent

Hi and welcome to my review of the new Hi Gear Kalahari – from Go Outdoors.

The Kalahari tent from Go Outdoors comes in 3 options.  You have the 8 man, 10 man and the new Kalahari Eclipse 8 – also an 8 man.

In this review, we are going to look at all three options.

So what is offered with the Hi Gear Kalahari tents?

The Hi Gear Kalahari Tents are great family tents and with the choice of 2 sizes and the 8 man coming in 2 designs I’m sure you will be able to pick the tent that is right for you and your family.

I have in the past used the Kalahari 10 with family and have got to say it was a tent I loved. These tents are spacious, well designed and somewhat versatile due to removable bedroom pods and the optional extra canopy.

It is only due to family growing and everyone getting their own separate tents that this tent became way too big for just the two of us to take away, we reluctantly sold it. (and I do mean very reluctantly)

All three Kalahari tents are of tunnel tent design with 2 bedroom pods at each end and a spacious living area in the centre. Each of the tents have storage pockets on the outside of bedroom pods providing storage in the living area as well as storage pockets in each bedroom pod.  There is also a central lantern hanging hook in the living area.

These are recommended as weekend tents but I feel if you are a smaller family or group you could greatly benefit from removing bedroom pods from one side of the tent to give you a greater living and storage area for extended camping trips together.

The new Eclipse Bedroom System

Conclusion

I really do like these tents, they are spacious and easy to pitch.  The only thing really separating the Eclipse and Elite 8 are the bedroom pods and the materials from which the bedroom pods are made.  I love the new lights out fabric that the Eclipse offers.

As you can see from the illustrations above there is little difference in the size between the 8’s and 10 person tents.  The 10 is slightly wider to allow for the extra 2 people it can accommodate.
